The observations of Comet Hale-Bopp's jets and shells and some preliminary results
Tao Jun, Qian Bo-chen and Tang Yuan, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, The Chinese Academy of Sciences

In this paper, we have succeeded in image processing of the near-nuclear region of Comet Hale-Bopp, jets and shells being clearly separated from the coma background by means of the wavelet analysis approach. Based on the morphological information, we made a preliminary estimation of expanding speed of shells. We also found the relative position of jets varied slightly from Aug. to Dec. 1996.
